Sinigang na Hipon
(Shrimp in Sour Soup)
A sour soup dish using tamarind fruits and vegetables such as, string beans,
radish and kangkong. This dish can be eaten in combination with fried fish
and grilled meat.
Ingredients :
- 1 kg shrimp
- 3 large tamarind
- 6 pcs string beans
- 10 stalks of kangkong
- 3 long chilli
- 1 onion
- 3 pcs big tomato
- Fish sauce
- 4 cups of rice wash
- Salt to taste
Directions :
- Boil tamarind fruit in rice, wash to soften.
- Extract the juices from the tamarind.
- In a deep pan or casserole, boil rice wash or water.
- Add the tamarind juice, onion, tomatoes and radish. let it boil and season with salt.
- Lower fire into medium heat and add the string beans, green long chilli, kangkong and shrimp
- Simmer for 5-8 minutes or until the shrimps are done.
